Preservice Teachers’ Reflections on English Teaching Practicum for Professional Development: A Bibliometric Analysis

Abstract

This study examines the trends of preservice teachers’ (PSTs) reflections on English teaching practicum for professional development. The relevant studies were searched and selected from the dataset of the Scopus database for analysis. The bibliometric analysis using the VOSviewer program was executed from 1989 to 2021, split into the earlier and recent periods. Results revealed the most used keywords and words, cited authors, journals and countries, and tech-based methods of PSTs’ reflections.

M. Zaini Miftah, State University of Malang, Indonesia

M. Zaini Miftah is a faculty member at the Department of English Language Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Institut Agama Islam Negeri Palangka Raya, Indonesia. He earned his M.A. from Universitas Negeri Malang, Indonesia, and he is pursuing a Ph.D. at the same university. His research interests include L2 writing, ICT in ELT, TEFL, blended learning, and teacher professional development. He is currently chief editor of the Journal on English as a Foreign Language (JEFL) in Indonesia. 

Yazid Basthomi, State University of Malang, Indonesia

Yazid Basthomi is Professor of Applied Linguistics with the Department of English, Faculty of Letters, Universitas Negeri Malang, Indonesia. Currently, he is the convener of the graduate program (M.A. and Ph.D) in ELT. He received his Master's from Curtin University and Doctorate from Universitas Negeri Malang, Indonesia. His research interests include genre analysis and interlanguage education. He has also been Coordinator of the Publication Division of the Association for the Teaching of English as a Foreign Language in Indonesia (TEFLIN)

 

Abdul Syahid , State Islamic Institute of Palangka Raya, Indonesia

Abdul Syahid has been an EFL teacher since 1995. After teaching at some senior high schools in Sepang and Sampit, he joined the Department of English Language Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Institut Agama Islam Negeri Palangka Raya, Indonesia in 2018 to pursue his teaching career. He earned his Ph.D. from Universitas Negeri Malang, Indonesia. Besides e-learning and computer assisted language learning, his areas of interest include bibliometric studies.
