Abstract

Problem of possibility of sex change is analysed in the article based on two models of metaphysical structure of human being – Thomistic and Personalist, and seeking their coherence. Thomas Aquinas’ notion of sex as inseparable accident is related with personalist conception of person and his/her freedom. Having ascribed sex to level of nature, relation between person and nature is discussed together with the relationship between person’s freedom and nature. Conclusion is drawn that analysis of metaphysical structure of human being does not provide arguments for substantiating the possibility of sex change.
