This paper offers my personal view of a philosopher who was not only a colleague but also a close friend. From my interactions with him I judge Leonidas to have been a perceptive and non-insulting aphorist, a master of condensed philosophical thought, and a fine encyclopedist of important aspects of Western civilization. Above all, we shared the conviction that most significant are those aspects which mean something to us.
