This study examined whether school absenteeism has a mediating effect on the relationship between amotivation and academic achievement. The study sample consisted of 350 middle-school students in Turkey. A path analysis was created to test the relationships between the study variables. Results showed that amotivation had both a direct and indirect effect on students’ academic achievement. Absenteeism had a partial mediating effect on the relationship between amotivation and academic achievement.
