Abstract

The article presents the problem of rights protection of early age children deprived of parental care. Following the analysis of scholarly literature sources, it can be stated that children deprived of parental care become particularly vulnerable; therefore, protection of their rights has to attract additional attention and high quality activities of institutions responsible for child’s rights protection. The analysis of the results of the qualitative research on legal system functioning and activities of the institutions involved in protection of child’s rights revealed that the system of children’s rights protection has been functioning insufficiently in Lithuania, more considerable attention is allocated to children’s social protection and integration compared to protection of their rights and legitimate interests. The problems of episodic interinstitutional collaboration were also envisaged.
