Abstract

The article reviews the literature on philosophy teaching in schools, examines existing textbooks on philosophy teaching, explores the experience of pilot philosophy lessons implemented in different Lithuanian schools, raises questions about the importance of philosophy in schools, analyses different methods of teaching philosophy in schools for different grade levels, and reviews survey data on how students and teachers of different subjects perceive the needs and benefits of teaching philosophy in schools. The article also discusses foreign practices and analyses how philosophy is taught in schools in Germany.
