LANDSCAPE CHANGE PROCESSES IN KAUNAS DISTRICT AND THEIR EVALUATION

Abstract

The connection between the landscape and man is inseparable from each other, because the connection between nature is extremely important to us due to psychological, cultural, social, ecological, educational aspects. The landscape is constantly changing due to human activities. The aim of this article is to analyze the change of the landscape and the factors that caused it in Kaunas district in the analyzed period 1995, 2006, 2018. The study found that the areas of agricultural areas changed the most, increasing by 46 percent. and areas of forests and other natural areas, which decreased by 4 percent. The most intensive increase in the area of agricultural territories: Babtai, Domeikava, Lapės and Vandžiogala, and the most forested elderships: Zapyškis Babtai, Ežerėlis and Vandžiogala. Assessing the ecological stability coefficient of Kaunas district, it was established that it has changed from moderately stable (0.59) to slightly stable (0.50), and in the elderships the highest ecological stability coefficient has changed since 1995. until 2018 In Kačerginė eldership (0.94; 0.93, respectively). The lowest coefficient of ecological stability in Garliava eldership during the same period (0.34; 0.33, respectively).
