Abstract

Wood fuel is one of the six types of biofuels (Baltic ForBio, 2020), which, like the others, currently occupies an important place in industrial and household activities (LITBIOMA 2013). Wood fuel can be extracted not only from felling waste or special plantations, but can also be obtained from shrubs and bushes (Kask, Vares, Saareoks, 2020). The latter can be produced not only in forested areas, but also in unused or abandoned land, parks, gardens or greenery maintenance works (Virbickas, 2016). Given the importance of wood fuel and Lithuania's significant potential (Baltic ForBio, 2020) in this area, it is necessary to consider the economic and ecological factors that are effectively monitored for the production of this type of fuel. Thus, the analysis of wood fuel extraction technologies is no exception. Thus, the analysis of wood fuel extraction technologies is no exception. It is necessary to review the entire wood fuel extraction chain (starting with the technological solutions for the extraction of raw materials) and to analyze which technological solutions would be the best in the conditions of abandoned agricultural areas in Lithuania. It is important to note that the work is carried out more mechanized (regardless of the composition of the site or stand), but more than 1 ha is obtained by chainsaws, and in the latter case the soil remains tidy and the soil is less damaged.
