ASSESMENT OF INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIVENESS OF DAIRY PRODUCTS IN THE EUROPEAN UNION COUNTRIES

Abstract

The aim of the article is to evaluate the international competitiveness of European Union countries in the dairy products’ sector. The international competitiveness of this sector is analysed in 27 European Union countries during the period of 2004–2020. The international competitiveness is assessed using Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) index method. The analysis of trade competitiveness of European Union countries in dairy products sector using RCA method showed that most of the EU countries specialize in the export of goods in the aforementioned sector. The most competitive countries in the dairy products sector during the research period were Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, France, Greece, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands and Poland. The least competitive countries in the dairy products sector were Sweden and Malta. The most neutral countries in the export of food in the aforementioned sector were Austria, Belgium and Italy.
