Abstract

The article emphasizes the evaluation of the selected green spaces of Vilnius according to the developed system of sustainability criteria, which has proved its worth in other works, as well as reviews the possibilities of recreation development in the selected reserve, based on the example of a well-maintained park. The assessment was performed in selected territories belonging to the city of Vilnius - in the city park (Reformate Park) and in the reserve (Pūčkoriai State Landscape Reserve). There are a number of protected areas in Vilnius, the areas of which could be planned in a sustainable way and adapted for recreation. Only harmoniously designed (planned) urban green spaces unite the urban society for common activities and meetings. The evaluation of the selected green spaces according to the sustainability criteria showed that the Reformed Park in Vilnius corresponds to 85%. all selected sustainability criteria. The restriction score was evaluated with the lowest score. The compliance of the Pūčkoriai Landscape Reserve with the sustainability criteria is only 45%. In terms of sustainability, the criteria of constraint and accessibility are the best, while the criteria of safety, environmental friendliness, complexity and the condition of the site are the lowest. The main opportunities for the development of recreation in the Pūčkoriai Landscape Reserve are the installation of a convenient network of trails, increasing security by installing a lighting system and remote video surveillance system in the reserve accesses, reducing pollution by installing sufficient rubbish bins and human resources. Increasing recreational elements is also needed.
