ASSESMENT OF THE CONDITION OF VETERAN TREE AND PATHOGENS AGRAVITATING IT IN THE TERRITORY OF SE TELŠIAI REGIONAL DIVISION

Abstract

The research was performed in 2021 of SE Telšiai territory, growing veteran trees were evaluated which were presented in the list of nature management plan, list of giant’s tree and other unique trees which stand out in their stands. In the research were evaluated 184 veteran trees. The largest number of veteran trees were common oak – 58 pcs. and Scots pine – 50 pcs., least number of veteran trees were common hornbeam and European white elm. Dendrometry indicators of veteran trees were measured, their physiological and biomechanical vitality was estimated and the pathogens aggravating veteran trees condition were identified.

Estimated veteran trees were found that good condition trees were – 21,8 %, sufficient – 10,3 %, moderate – 65,2 % and 2,7 % of bad condition. It was determinate that the biggest tree girth and crown projection has common oaks and the highest trees were common pines. Most pathogens were identified on common oaks and also these trees species were the most affected by lesions, cavities and most of trees has rot.
