ENTREPRENEURSHIP EDUCATION OF RURAL COMMUNITIES IN LITHUANIAN DISTRICTS

Abstract

One of the measures to promote the employment of the rural population is to promote their entrepreneurship. Promoting entrepreneurship is the process by which a person acquires entrepreneurial skills that they can then use to build a successful business. Promoting entrepreneurship is valuable to society because it helps a person to develop and promotes social and economic development. The majority of the unemployed are rural, so it is important to find out if entrepreneurship is being promoted in rural communities. The object of the research is the promotion of entrepreneurship in rural communities. The aim of the research is to identify the ways and means of promoting entrepreneurship in Lithuanian rural communities. Research methods: document analysis and comparison method. To implement the research, the strategic plans of 10 Lithuanian district municipalities were analyzed. The research revealed that from the analyzed strategic plans of 10 district municipalities - only Alytus and Telšiai district municipalities promote entrepreneurship in rural communities and apply specialized measures. The results of the study could be relevant to the rural communities and local government of the analyzed areas.
