SUPPLY LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT SOLUTIONS INTEGRATING LEAN AND AI

Supply logistics processes increasingly rely on heterogeneous information sources such as ERP systems, Excel workbooks and e-mail communication, which increases process variability and makes waste harder to observe. This theoretical paper proposes an integrated model where Lean tools—particularly Value Stream Mapping (VSM)—are used to identify non-value-added activities, while process mining (based on event logs) enables a data-driven VSM that objectively measures flow times and variants. The resulting transparency supports prioritisation of automation candidates. In the second part of the model, Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is positioned as an implementation mechanism, using Power Automate Cloud and Power Automate Desktop (optionally with Python) to automate rule-based non-value-added work, reduce error rates and shorten cycle time. The paper argues that Lean and AI/RPA are complementary: Lean structures the problem, whereas AI-enabled process transparency and RPA provide scalable execution.
