The aim of this research was to analyse and compare the biologically active substances of various varieties of Marigold flowers. The laboratory experiment was conducted in 2022-2023 at the Department of Plant Biology and Food Sciences, Faculty of Agronomy, Academy of Agriculture, Vytautas Magnus University. Research objects were 'Carmen' carnation serent Tagetes patula var. Nana, 'Fiesta' carnation serent 'Tagetes patula L'., 'Red Brocate' carnation serent 'Tagetes patula L'., 'Honeycomb' carnation serent Tagetes patula L., 'Clinton' big serentis Tagetes erecta L., 'Cupid Yellow' big serentis Tagetes erecta L. petals. Dry matter content, total phenolic compounds content, total carotene content, phenolic compounds content, chlorophyll a and b were analysed according to standard methods.
The essential biggest amount of dry matter content was found in flowers of 'Cupid Yellow' and 'Red Brocate' cultivars. There were found that the total amount of phenolic compounds was similar in the investigated flowers of different cultivars, except for the essential lowest was in 'Clinton' flowers. Essentially the highest content of chlorophylls a and b was determined in the flowers of 'Red Brocate' cultivar, and total carotenoid content in the flowers of 'Cupid Yellow'.
