Abstract

The purpose of this study was to reveal, specify and substantiate the challenges experienced by doctoral students at different levels in the higher education space. The study used qualitative research design, collecting data through semi-structured interviews and applying latent qualitative content analysis. The results revealed three levels of challenges for doctoral students, which have specific contents and aspects that connect them. The central aspect at all levels remains the relationship between the doctoral student and the supervisor.
