Abstract

This study reviews engineering measures implemented in Lithuania and abroad for landslide stabilization. This task involves analyzing scientific literature, technical documents, and practical projects to identify the most commonly used slope stabilization technologies. The measures examined include gabions, geosynthetic materials, retaining walls, drainage systems, and other geotechnical solutions. Additionally, the applicability of these technologies in areas of cultural heritage sites is assessed.

The research employs a comprehensive methodology that includes a literature review, field observations, visual assessments of hillfort conditions, simple geometric measurements, and an evaluation of the effectiveness of engineering measures. The methodology was selected to evaluate landslide formation processes in the hillfort area of the Kaunas Lagoon Regional Park and to determine the most suitable slope stabilization measures. Based on the analysis, it was found that the most effective solutions for stabilizing the slopes of Dovainoniai Hillfort include the maintenance of drainage systems and slope stabilization using gabions. The integrated application of these measures can help reduce the occurrence of further landslides, ensure the long-term stability of the hillfort slopes in Kaunas District, and contribute to the preservation of cultural heritage sites.
