THEORETICAL AND PRACTICAL ASPECTS OF OVERSIZED CARGO TRANSPORTATION MANAGEMENT
Keywords:
oversized cargo, transportation, logistics, transport managementAbstract
The article examines the management of oversized cargo transportation, which consists of the main management stages: transportation, planning, coordination, leadership and control, in order to identify opportunities for improvement in this area. The smooth operation of the aforementioned processes determines the successful transportation of cargo. The main goal of logistics companies is to generate the highest possible profit, but inefficient transport and cargo management only reduces the profit received. The latter problem has a particularly significant impact on the transport of oversized cargo, which requires special cargo transportation conditions and accuracy. The purpose of this article is to present a comparison of the theoretical and practical aspects of the management of oversized cargo transportation, clarifying the problems that arise and presenting ways to solve them. The article analyzes scientific literature, which is compared with practical empirical research and legal acts. The text delves into the processes of oversized cargo transportation, transport management itself and decisions made at this stage, thus seeking to analyze the stages of oversized cargo transportation management and solutions to the problems that arise in them as accurately as possible. One of the biggest problems in the management of oversized cargo transport is inefficient transport management, which is related to improper transport selection and route planning. More effectively managed processes would allow companies to reduce losses and increase competitiveness. The article presents a survey of companies providing oversized cargo transport services, which highlights the problems described in the theory: lack of digitized processes or technologies, poor communication, route planning problems.
