THE INFLUENCE OF COVER CROPS AND DIFFERENT INTENSITIES OF SOIL TILLAGE ON PEA AGROCENOSIS

Abstract

Studies on the influence of cover crops and different soil tillages such as direct sowing, shading, on pea agrocenosis were carried out in 2025 at the LAMMC Institute of Agriculture. The conducted research aimed to determine soil hardness, biometric parameters of pea roots and grain yield . The results of the study showed that direct sowing with cover crops (NT+T) and plowing (AR+T and AR+BT) had an effect on soil hardness. However, the optimal conditions for the pea system were in the – 20 cm soil layer, using the most suitable root option with and without cover crops. However, the highest yield of peas was determined by arable cultivation without cover crops. Such trends of research results show that although shallow tillage with cover crops favorably affects the distribution of root biomass in the upper horizontals, the yield is determined by tillage technology.
