ANALYSIS OF LAND CONSOLIDATION PROJECTS IMPLEMENTED IN LITHUANIA

Abstract

This paper analyses the development and implementation practice of land consolidation projects in Lithuania, with a primary focus on the period from the initiation of the first pilot projects to the end of the Lithuanian Rural Development Programme for 2014–2020. The aim of the study is to analyse the scale and territorial distribution of land consolidation projects implemented in Lithuania during 2004–2020 across different programming periods.The research applies document analysis, comparative analysis, and synthesis methods, based on official documents and reports prepared by state institutions.

The results of the analysis indicate that during the period 2004–2020, a total of 61 land consolidation projects were prepared and implemented in Lithuania, covering more than 61,000 hectares of land. In the pilot phase (2004–2008), 14 projects were implemented; during the 2007–2013 programming period, 39 projects were carried out; while in the 2014–2020 programming period land consolidation activities were conducted on a limited scale, with only 8 projects implemented. The projects were prepared and implemented by responsible state institutions and licensed land management companies, covering various regions of Lithuania.
