The transition toward a sustainable bioeconomy requires not only technological advancement, but also the strategic development of human capital capable of operating in increasingly digital and data-driven environments. This paper explores Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a strategic tool for human capital development in the bioeconomy sector, emphasizing the importance of aligning AI integration with long-term organizational objectives and sustainability imperatives. Drawing on recent strategic human resource management perspectives that underline the emerging AI–human capital symbiosis, the study analyzes how AI reshapes recruitment practices, performance management systems, skills forecasting, and organizational learning processes. At the same time, it recognizes that the adoption of AI generates both measurable productivity gains and significant ethical, social, and workforce-related challenges that require responsible governance. Within complex bioeconomic systems characterized by environmental interdependencies and structural uncertainty, AI capabilities such as advanced analytics, predictive modelling, and real-time monitoring create new opportunities for evidence-based decision-making and targeted competence development. The paper conceptualizes AI not as a replacement for human expertise, but as an augmentative and strategic enabler that strengthens adaptability, supports continuous learning, and enhances innovation capacity within bioeconomy organizations operating under sustainability and circularity pressures.
