Abstract

Digitalisation has been an important topic to look at in warehouse management and logistics. In India, the use of traditional warehouses has shown limitations such as manual processes, low levels of accuracy, and inefficiency compared to modern warehouse management systems (WMS). There are several digital tools, including barcode scanners, RFID tags, IoT (Internet of Things) devices, and automation, that can improve warehouse performance. This study used secondary data to understand challenges within the Indian warehouse industry and then proposed solutions to overcome these challenges by implementing the identified technologies, providing worker training and integrating systems into the warehouse environment. One of the main findings of the research was that in order to enhance the efficiency and decrease overall operational costs created by current warehouse operations, companies need to embrace digital transformation in an effort to meet the growing demands within the supply chain.
