WAREHOUSE PROCESS MANAGEMENT IMPROVEMENT OPPORTUNITIES TO ENHANCE OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY

Abstract

The article examines the possibilities of improving warehouse process management, which are becoming extremely significant for modern supply chains, as operational challenges grow and the impact of digitalization on logistics infrastructure increases. The study analyzes how a warehouse is transformed from a traditional storage location into a strategic operational hub, where material flows, information exchange, technological systems and employee activity organization intersect, and their interaction directly determines the efficiency of the company's operations. By applying systematic, thematic and critical analysis of scientific literature, the main reasons for the inefficiency of warehouse processes are identified, such as high costs in the order picking process, variability of procedures, limited data availability and technological fragmentation. The analysis reveals several theoretical directions for process improvement: standardized operational procedures that allow reducing operational variability and ensuring stable process reproducibility; development of digitalization and technological solutions (WMS, IoT sensors, RFID, 5G communication, automated identification systems), increasing the visibility and accuracy of warehouse operations; the importance of employee competencies and organizational culture, which determines the adaptability of technologies; and the integration of sustainability principles, which increasingly establishes the priorities of energy saving and responsible use of resources. The results show that the efficiency of warehouse process management depends not on individual improvements, but on a systematic, mutually compatible set of standardization, technologies and organizational maturity. The article concludes that the synergy of these factors creates the prerequisites for reducing operational errors, increasing process transparency and achieving higher operational efficiency, and the theoretical assessment reveals the directions in which logistics organizations can purposefully strengthen warehouse process management in order to achieve competitive advantage..
