Abstract

The article introduces the concept of ecological footprint, identifies the components, and discusses the agricultural factors that influence the ecological footprint. The study uses analysis and synthesis of scientific literature and other sources of information, as well as graphical representation methods. The ecological footprint reveals the total area of land and water required to sustain the human population and to meet the needs and assimilate the waste discharged into the environment. It has been found that the impact of agriculture on the ecological footprint can be assessed based on the following data: economic growth, the International Trade Openness Index, and the share of renewable energy use in agriculture.
