Abstract

The transport and logistics sector has been undergoing rapid digitalization in recent years, which is transforming traditional principles of transportation organization and increasing the importance of technological solutions. With the growing complexity of supply chains, rising customer expectations, and increasing market competition, logistics companies are increasingly adopting smart technologies to manage transportation processes more efficiently, optimize resource use, and improve service quality. Technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), big data analytics, transport management systems, and digitalized document management enable real-time monitoring of transportation processes, reduce operational uncertainty, and enhance decision-making. The aim of this article is to analyze the significance of smart technologies in the transportation processes of logistics companies. The study is based on scientific literature analysis and the generalization method, which allowed the evaluation of technology application trends, their benefits, and limitations. The results show that smart technologies contribute to higher operational efficiency, cost reduction, and transparency in transportation processes. However, their implementation is limited by investment needs, differences in infrastructure development, and a lack of employee competencies. The article emphasizes that the integration of smart technologies is becoming an important factor in increasing the competitiveness of logistics companies.
