THE ANALYSIS OF HYDROLOGICAL REGIME RESTORATION IN DEGESIAI BOG

Abstract

The analysis of hydrological regime restoration in Degesiai bog. Degesiai bog which is in Stervo nature reserve in Telsiai county in Varniai regional park. Research aim: were the aims of the research project achieved recreating hydrological regime in Degesiai bog, according to the 2016 project ‘restoration of hydrologival conditions in northwest parts of the Degesiai bog’ (Lietuvninkas, 2015). Research objectives: to analyse hydrological regime in Degesiai bog, to evaluate condition of implemented restoration measures, to recommend or suggest other actions which could improve hydrological regime in Degesiai bog.

During the research the water level was observed at the barrier of the drainage ditches.

According to the results recorded in the research, the variety of the water levels were identified then tables and graphics were created.

As the results show, the predicted height was not always reached and flood protection, in the northern part of the reservoir, is inadequate and is very quickly washed out. Therefore, it is needed put up a screen in the whole length of the flood protection (approx. 270 m) to reduce water loss and increase the water level.
