ANALYSIS OF COMMON BEECH (FAGUS SYLVATICA L.) PLANTATION IN KALINENAI AND MOCISKIAI STATE FOREST DISTRICT

Abstract

Researches were carried in Telsiai state forest regional departments Kaltinenai district and Jurbarkas regional department Mociskiai district stands that was regenerated by planted common beech seedlings and growing in NCL soil type. In order to determine the quantitative and qualitative indicators and evaluate the survival of common beech in the restored plantations, twelve accounting sites were established, where the following were evaluated: tree height, tree branching type, tree vitality, curvature, nature of curvature, condition of trees, types of damage, thickness of branches. A total of 262 common beeches were evaluated.

After regeneration projects analyzis, it was found that the initial planting density of the common beech was 2896 unt/he, after the measurements, factical density was 2217 units/ha. The survival percentage of beech trees did not differ significantly from other tree species that were planted together. The most common damages to common beech was animal damages and dry tree tops.
