FACTORS DETERMINING THE OPERATION OF AN ORGANIC FARM

Although the certified areas of organic production farms are increasing in Lithuania, the factors affecting the development of organic farming in the country have not been examined, so the chosen topic is relevant. It is relevant what is the prevailing attitude towards organic farming, the use of fodder on farms, what are the problems and development opportunities of this farming. The pace of organic farming in Lithuania is one of the highest in the EU, but recently farmers are facing problems. It is important to find out what factors influence organic farming. During the semi-structured interview, it was found that organic farms are most affected by the decrease in financial support, too strict regulation of organic farms. The biggest problems faced by farmers are an unstable market, decreasing demand for organic products, and a lack of workers. According to the opinion of the research participants, decisions should be made by the agricultural authorities, that is to increase payments and listen to farmers' problems. The results of the research helped to find out the main factors and problems determining the operation of the organic farm.
