Abstract

The task of the research is to determine the influence of different cooling system management on electricity and water consumption in order to prevent cows from heat stress. The empirical study was conducted in a 240-seat box-type cowshed, during the studied summer period (1800 hours), data was collected and accumulated every hour, information was collected: temperature and humidity of air entering from outside, temperature and humidity in the cowshed. Using the temperature humidity index (THI) formula, it was calculated when and at what capacity it is most appropriate to use fans with a water spray system, thus reducing the THI of the air entering from outside by 3.5%. It is theoretically calculated that the humidification-cooling system installed in the cowshed, adjusted according to THI indications, will reduce water consumption by 43% and electricity consumption by 18%.
