Abstract

The research were carried out in 2021-2022 at the Experimental Station of Vytautas Magnus University. Winter wheat grown in a carbonated shallow gleyic luvisol (Calc(ar)i-Epihypogleyic Luvisol) (LVg-w-cc). The purpose of the field experiment was conducted to determine the influences of direct sowing and reduced tillage on the winter wheat crop. The results showed that direct sowing to unprocessed soil significantly reduced the germination and crop density of winter wheat. The effect of tillage on the number of productive stems of winter wheat before harvest was not defined. Direct sowing to unprocessed soil reduced winter wheat yield by 1,2 times compared to conventional tillage, despite the highest number of productive stems being found in this field.
