SMART TECHNOLOGIES AND THEIR USAGE POSSIBILITIES IN LOGISTICS

Abstract

The fourth industrial revolution has significantly influenced the activities of logistics companies and contributed to the development of the concept of Logistics 4.0, which aims to sustainably meet the individual needs of customers without increasing costs and using digital technologies (Strandhagen et al., 2017). The topic is relevant due to the rapidly changing business conditions and the goals set in the long-term strategies of companies to pursue sustainable, efficient activities based on innovative work methods and smart technologies. The purpose of the study is to review the main smart technologies in logistics and describe their advantages and disadvantages. Applied methods: analysis and synthesis of scientific literature The obtained results showed that the use of smart technologies in the practice of companies reduces the amount of unnecessary operations, processes become smarter and clearer, the need for manpower is reduced, "paperwork" is minimized, improves work productivity, changes information access and processing methods, improves analysis and control mechanisms, increases profits, and is one of the main guarantors of rapid growth and development. Implementing smart technologies is a continuous logistical process. It is not only an increase in operational efficiency, but also a contribution to ecology and sustainability.
