DETERMINATION OF TREE AND STAND PARAMETERS USING 3D SCANNER
Keywords:3D laser scanner, 3D models, point cloud, tree dendrometric parameters, stand dendrometric parameters.
The aim of the article is to examine the application of clouds of points obtained during 3D scanning in forestry.Measurements were taken in February 2021. Tree point clouds were obtained using the Leica Geosystems 3D scanner Leica BKL 360. Software processing was performed with CloudCompare and 3D Forest applications. Tree diameters and heights were obtained. The data obtained with the Leica BKL 360 3D scanner were found to be suitable for determining the diameter and height of trees. Comparing the data obtained by different methods, it was found that the diameter of the trees at chest height was smaller than that determined with the help of the 3D Forest program from the point cloud. The smallest differences were obtained using the Position RHT and DBH RHT method (mean difference -0.6%). The largest discrepancy was obtained using Position Lowest point and DBH LSR (mean difference -4.44%). Differences in the diameter of individual trees range from -13.11% to +2.17%. Studies have also shown that tree heights, as measured by altimeter, are higher than those obtained from the 3D Forest program. Using the Position Lowest point method vid. the difference is 3.11% and using Position RHT is 3.33%. Differences in height of individual trees range from -1.73% to + 14.96%.
