Abstract

The aim of this research is to identify differences in the level and structure of income of rural households in the regions of Lithuania and to assess which sources of income determine these differences. The article analyses the theoretical issues of household income and presents the classification of these sources of income. The results of the empirical study include an assessment of the gap between rural households and urban households at the national level, and regional differences in the income level and structure of rural households are analysed at the county level. In the first case, the aggregated data of the annual statistical survey on income and living conditions are analysed, and in the second case, the individual data of rural households collected from public data files are used for the analysis.
