Abstract

The article describes the technology of L-beam production and discusses and analyzes the qualitative research carried out in the sawmill of “UAB Stora Enso Lietuva” in Alytus. In order to understand what technological processes take place in the production, the raw material used, the equipment, the requirements agreed with the customer of the product and what qualitative tests are carried out to ensure that the product meets the requirements are described in detail. The tests were performed in the quality department in the laboratory, on a refracting bench and in a convection oven. The studies also made comparisons between the results of different samples in order to understand the relationship between the different properties. It was observed that the smaller the width of the annual ring, the higher the bending strength of the beam. Also, as the density of the wood increases, the bending strength increases.
