The field experiment was conducted in 2021 – 2022 in Vidas Šniepis farm, located in Paragaudis village, Šilalė district. The soil of the experimental field was unsaturated shallow gleyic loam (Dystric Epihypogleyic Albeluvisol). The influence of fertilization of annual and perennial grass mixture with nitrogen fertilizers on yield and quality indicators was investigated in a field experiment. Experimental treatments: Factor A: 1. Vetch-oat mixture + perennial grasses; 2. Vetch-oat mixture + perennial grasses + annual ryegrass; Factor B: 1. N0; 2. N15; 3. N30; Experimental treatments: 1. Vetch-oat mixture + perennial grasses + N0; 2. Vetch-oat mixture + perennial grasses + N15; 3. Vetch-oat mixture + perennial grasses + N30; 4. Vetch-oat mixture + perennial grasses + annual ryegrass + N0; 5. Vetch-oat mixture + perennial grasses + annual ryegrass + N15; 6. Vetch-oat mixture + perennial grasses + annual ryegrass + N30. The yield of the green mass of the 2nd cut of the mixture was not significantly affected by either nitrogen fertilization or perennial ryegrass. However, there is a tendency for fields with one-year-old italian ryegrass to grow more green mass than without ryegrass. The fiber content in the mass of perennial grasses of the second cut differed significantly. Most fiber content – 34.8 percent – was found in grasses grown in experimental plots without N fertilizer and without annual ryegrass.
