Abstract

The study is discussed, during which the quantities of dead wood in natural habitats and commercial forests of European Union importance in the Rokiškis regional subdivision of the State Forest Enterprise were investigated. The study aims to compare the amount of dead wood between different habitats and commercial forests of European Community importance, and to assess the distribution of dead wood according to the stages of decay. The results of the study showed that the amount of dead wood in habitats of European Union importance is significantly higher than in commercial forests. Thus, the research revealed that habitats of European Union importance are important areas rich in dead wood.
