Abstract

Reclamation structures change and wear due to the impact of nature and human activities. In Lithuania, drainage has depreciated by an average of 65%, and individual types of buildings have worn out by as much as 70-80%. The average age of drainage systems is approaching 50 years, therefore a larger part of them (2 million hectares) is already operating inefficiently, and 250 thousand hectares does not work at all. Their maintenance, repair, reconstruction is a necessary condition to ensure good conditions for farming and the operation of the infrastructure of urban areas.

The total drained land in Klaipėda district is 72,81 thousand hectares, drainage of drained land – 64,44 thousand hectares, land reclaimed in poor condition occupies 4,15 thousand hectares - 6.44%.

In Lithuania, the percentage of depreciation of drainage systems is high, and the funds allocated by the Republic are clearly too small. One of the problems is that the Lithuanian government, when allocating funds for land reclamation, forgets that this whole system benefits not only for agriculture, but also it serves roads, railways, settlements, logistics centers, airports, and so on. Given the importance of land reclamation and depreciation, the state should hurry to restructure its funding, as further degradation will have consequences that will cost more than timely investments.

The methods used in the research were data selection, systematization, grouping, statistical research, and methods of graphical data expression.
