The article discusses the origins of the Landsberg family of Courland barons (from the 11th century), their spread in Livonia and Courland (mid-16th century) and Lithuania (mid-17th century), the formation of a separate branch in Lithuania (mid-17th century – 18th century), and clarifies genealogical data about family members. Sources from the second half of the 18th century about the estates owned by the Landsberg family in the present-day Joniškis district are examined in detail. Financial transactions and the circulation of money in the second half of the 18th century are also discussed.
