This article provided an overview on how the circular economy is currently being implemented within the textile and fashion sector.  The environmental footprint of the light industry at various stages of the product life cycle was examined. A detailed analysis of literary sources on the implementation of the circular economy model was carried out. The peculiarities of the circular economy model in the textile industry are determined. Some of the most successful examples of the transition to circularity in light industry are considered. By focusing on existing practices, challenges and opportunities, we identified the necessary skills and competences needed to support the transformation of fashion companies towards a circular economy.</p> ER -
